Welcome to OneLife NQ

We specialise in providing personalised services to individuals who require in home or community support. Our strength is in supporting people with a spinal cord injury or other physical disabilities, however, we do not limit our supports to people with physical disabilities. OneLife NQ is a local disability organisation that has been providing services for over 40 years in the Mackay and Whitsunday region. 

In February 1978, several members of our community with spinal injuries came together under the name of the ‘Mackay Branch of the Paraplegic Welfare Association of Queensland’. Their conversations lead to the idea of building a specialised complex for young people with severe disability, as at the time nursing homes for the aged were the main option for supports following initial injury. From this idea, a specialised accommodation complex ‘Myrtle Caddy Para-villa’ was born. When the land for this complex was transferred to the Association we became an incorporated body which necessitated a name change to the ‘Mackay & District Spinal Injuries Association Inc’. To encapsulate the diversity of individuals supported by the Association, a name change occurred in October 2019 to OneLife NQ Inc.

OneLife NQ continues to offer services and support to people in their homes, as well as at ‘Myrtle's Place’. OneLife NQ offers community access and participation, NDIS support coordination and allied health services to assist a wide range of people across our region. 

OneLife NQ services this region as far north as Midge Point, South to Ilbilbie and West to Eungella, providing much needed assistance throughout all regions in between.

We encourage and facilitate individuals to maintain as much independence as they can to make their own choices and decisions, and determine their own outcomes.
